In 2016, the US Aerospace and Defence industry generated $872 billion in sales, with exports of Aerospace and Defence goods and services setting a record of $146 billion in 2016. US Aerospace and Defence exports experienced significant growth in Europe (13.6%) and in the Middle East (22.3%) in that period In 2016, Europe was the US Aerospace and Defence industry’s largest export destination, receiving $49.9 billion in US exports, compared to $49.5 billion received in the Asia-Pacific region.
With production rates increasing globally and 2016 setting new records for aircraft deliveries, output from the UK Aerospace industry has grown by 39 per cent since 2011, with turnover now approximately £32bn per annum. The UK Aerospace sector grew by 8% in 2016, with 90% of final demand coming from exports. Almost two thirds of UK Aerospace businesses were expecting to grow by more than 10%, with that growth supported by strong exports to Europe and North America. Europe and North America remain the main export markets for UK companies, with further growth in the market sectors in Asia, the Middle East and in Australasia.
