The US Air Force has deployed F-16C Fighting Falcons to Câmpia Turzii air base, Romania, as a part of the latest Theater Security Package (TSP) in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

The airmen and aircraft are assigned to the 457th Fighter Squadron, 301st Fighter Wing, from Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas, and are deployed as the 457th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron.

Funded through the European Deterrence Initiative, the TSP provides a more robust US military rotational presence in the European theatre capable of deterring, and if required, responding to regional threats. While in theatre, these personnel and aircraft will participate in multiple readiness exercises alongside NATO allies and partners to strengthen interoperability and to demonstrate US commitment to the security and stability of Europe.

A dozen F-16Cs were deployed from Fort Worth and routed via Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany. The first cell of four jets comprised serials 85-1412, 85-1474, 85-1479 and 86-0229. The second flight consisted of serials 85-1467, 85-1481, 85-1493 and 85-1501. The third and final flight was made up of serials 85-1553, 85-1472, 85-1556 and 86-0227.
