Picture: First Indian C-130J delivered


The first C-130J transport aircraft has been handed over to the Indian Air Force.

December 17: The first of six Lockheed Martin C-130J transport aircraft was handed over to the Indian Air Force at the company’s Marietta plant in Georgia, USA.

The order for the six aircraft (plus six further options) was officially announced on January 31, 2008, with deliveries scheduled for completion by December 2011. The aircraft will be utilised in the special operations support role. The first C-130J-30 performed its maiden flight on October 4 and will be delivered to India in January.
