Black Hawk flies in Poland

The second S-70i Black Hawk produced in Poland has become the first to fly from the factory.

November 16: The second Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk produced at the company’s new plant at PZL Mielec in Poland became the first to fly from the factory yesterday.

The first helicopter produced by the Polish workforce recently completed flight testing in the United States. The next two aircraft in the programme are in final assembly with a fifth aircraft slated to begin production in December. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2011.

“For the employees of PZL Mielec, this first flight is the culmination of exceptional coordination with Sikorsky and dedication to our collective mission: to produce a remarkable new helicopter and continue the tradition of aircraft performance superiority,” said Janusz Zakrecki, Chief Executive Officer of PZL Mielec.
